PAINTING DEDICATED TO VICTIMS HOMOSEXUALS KILLED DURING THE NAZI.
The protagonist of my work is Mary, not portrayed in its religious significance, but in its historical figure of mother. I've chosen her as a symbol of immense love, who was only able to accept, protect and support every individual without reservations or distinctions.With only one gesture, Mary does not only tighten Jesus but at the same time she hugs the entire humanity represented by the earth sphere that sh keeps in her hands. In particular, her gaze is not only directed to her son but also to all those sons that live the homosexual condition, represented here by the masculine and feminine gay symbols, which the same Jesus gives to Mary.I've reproposed the same symbols in the heraldry above her to strengthen the link between Mary and her homosexual children; these symbols are accompanied by the colours of the gay flag and two pairs of bouquet. Precisely those flowers want to communicate a special message from double value: on one hand can defer the happiness of gay union, on the other one they want to remember the death of all homosexuals unfairly and tragically disappeared.I'm referring to all deaths historically documented but which remained forgotten for too long; deaths occurred in particular durig the nazism and caused by discrimation, fear of gender differences and the lack of awareness the "Homosexuality" is a condition, and not a choice.For too long, the society has ignored who were the "pink triangles" and it seems that even the gay community has forgotten them. With this work I want instead to awaken the memory awake the memory of those sufferings and awake the conscience of all to the possibility of entrusting this to remind the protagonist of my painting.
The Artist Raffaele Ciotola was born in Naples on Octuber 17 of 1964, attained the bachelor of the "Institute of Art F. Palizzi" in Naples, in 1983.Opera singer, musician, actor and figurative painter, artistically began in 1980 with an exhibition in Naples then prepare other throughout Italy until 2002. Among the awards achieved, he gets a gold medal for the exhibition at the Palace"La Triade" of Milan in 1980. His solo exhibition in Tuscia dates back to December 2002 when he exhibits for the first time th Hall Anselmi, of Viterbo-Lazio-Italy. From this moment takes off his rich artistic pruduction.
The pink triangle was used by the Nazis to distinguish homosexuals.

In the month of December 2008 France presented to the United Nations a motion in favour of the decriminalization of homosexuality in all nations of the world. It should be recalled, in fact, that even in this day and age, in various countries, homosexuality is considered an offence punishable by law and sentences can even involve the death penalty. Among the states called to subscribe to the proposal – created to combat homophobia and hatred towards different sexual orientations – was the Vatican, which refused to sign the agreement. Despite maintaining verbal support for respect and tolerance toward the GLBT community, in reality and in practice it shows no intention to be willing to open a dialogue concerning the problems which are experienced daily by millions of people, men and women. It must be acknowledged, sadly, that in the case of the Vatican – which ought to represent the word of God on earth (and the word of God means LOVE), there is very little (in this instance) in terms of real Christian content. As a Christian believer, I consider this attitude an insult to the teachings of Jesus: according to Him all men are born equal, under the love of Mary who receives ALL OF THEM without distinction in her immense love. Only God has - and has to have – the right to give life to and take life from a human being; but man has no right at all to take the life of another human being for reasons dictated by hatred, ignorance and intolerance. The true message that God sends us is precisely that of kindliness, of tolerance toward every individual in their singularity and richness. Personally, I am unable to find these values of kindliness, brotherhood and respect in any of the messages coming from the Vatican which instead continues to have attitudes of intolerance and exclusion toward other people - discriminated against, jailed and killed – and guilty only of being considered “different”.If they had signed YES to the decriminalization of homosexuality in the world they would have shown the whole world that they know the spirit of the LOVE of GOD and of the infinite grace He offers us, through the most precious gift in the world which is LIFE.
However, one thing is certain: I am no saint! And so – though not worthy to wash the feet of JESUS – as a Christian I forgive the Vatican, because GOD has taught me forgiveness; the rest is up to their own conscience.
The picture of “THE MADONNA OF HOMOSEXUALS” (THE MADONNA OF GAYS) and the photo of the Artist, Raffaele Ciotola, may be used only for publicity purposes and in order to spread the ethical values of the task which aims at remembering the thousands of homosexual victims, of whom very little is said.
